DUKE'S DISEASE

This is another childhood rash and is probably not a single disease with a single etiological agent. It has been suggested to be caused by a Staphylococcal or enterovirus infection (possibly Echovirus or Coxsackievirus). The term Duke's disease is no longer used.

The are many common childhood rashes which, after an incubation period of 10 to 15 days, are characterized by an exanthematous skin rash with slight fever (39.5 - 40 degrees C, lasting for 3 to 4 days) accompanied by few or no systemic symptoms.
